To engage, educate and empower the patients...and myself. I’ll have the opportunity to be a part of a team that will serve over 2,000 patients in 15 rural villages, where there is no access to medical care. I’ll educate the patients by providing basic instruction in the areas of nutrition and disease prevention, dental health, and hygiene. I will empower the patients to use this new knowledge to make healthy choices in caring for themselves and their families.

At the same time, I’ll gain valuable professional experience and education through engaging with patients directly in a real clinical setting. The education received during the mission empowers me to achieve a higher level of confidence and professionalism when serving my local community.

I’ll fly into Santiago on July 16th and stay in Lajas, the village that is home to Fusimana; a Catholic mission retreat center for prayer until the 30th.
